I was so excited to see an article on CNN about Los Angeles’ taco trucks, that I nearly booked an airline ticket.

Truth is, I love the street. It’s where you find authentic style.

It’s the same reason I love Hip Hop and Lindy Hop. Street dancing. No pricey pretense.

One of my greatest joys is finding hole-in-the-wall restaurants with food fit for kings. Street vendors can offer a kind of mobile hole-in-curb cuisine that satisfies the soul, even more so because such fare won’t drain your wallet. And the stainless-steel kitchens-on-wheels that roam L.A. were, when I lived there, always a fun lunch waiting to happen. Though, I note the cart near Grand Avenue downtown is not on CNN’s list. Oh well; I have my memories.

This goes for international travel as well: hit up the locals for their culinary knowledge. It’s always an adventure worth embarking upon. My spouse still regrets not eating the scorpion-on-a-stick offered by a Chinese street vendor in Beijing.

Don’t live with such regrets; do a little research and visit your local street vendor(s) today.
