Magic Spells for Getting Well
So, I gained a good five pounds over the holidays.
I am trying to figure out a way to divert that extra poundage to my cat, Cote, who’s wasting away from a combination of old-age, chronic renal failure, and testy intestines, despite an apparently healthy appetite.
I tried reciting a magic spell as I touched his nose (the nose being a good point of entry for life-giving things, like air).
It has not seemed to work.
Is there such a thing as reverse liposuction?
Of course, he could use something even more helpful, like additional muscle mass, but I’ve lost too much of mine myself, what with the gym cutting back its hours, so I’d need a volunteer donor and spell-caster. Maybe one of those athletes from the Bow-flex infomercials…?
Well, I guess I’ll keep my little cat-with-spats in blankets and heat. He seems happy enough at the moment, and particularly happy when lying in my lap with the dog (and spouse) locked on the other side of the house. The other day he even played a little.
It’s still too soon, always too soon, to think about losing him. So, I’ll focus on keeping him happy and comfortable as long as I can.
[With fond memories of Minu, who we lost a year ago today. I hope you’re not lonely, little buddy. We miss you very much. Alas, I have a feeling you’ll have a friend with you in the realm of forever within the year].
