Six Word Stories

Wired magazine recently invited authors and others to embark upon Hemingway’s esteemed path and write a very short (six word) story.

Apparently, Hemingway once wrote a story in just six words (”For sale: baby shoes, never worn.”) and called it his best work.

I decided to try the exercise here, using my ever-present (though sometimes obscure) food theme.   Here’s what resulted:

A fearsome cook, she dined alone.

He gorged on love. And starved.

Mom urged. Son ate. Daughter purged.

We tasted divinity, but swallowed pedestrianism.

Farm hand needed. All fingers intact.
